About Us

KD Dance Ltd (formerly, The Karen Dempsey School of Dance) was founded in September 1993, by current principal Mrs Karen Thompson AISTD, Dip LCD, DDE & Acrobatic Arts. The school was then based at the Girls’ Brigade HQ, L’Islet and commenced with just 40 students. Over the past 25 years’ the school has grown its student base and offers classes in ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap, Classical Greek and National dance, along with Acrobatic Arts and Theatre Stars, so plenty for all pupils to take part in and enjoy. The dance school moved to it’s current premises in September 2001 and is very much part of the local community.

Whilst dance is predominatly a recreational hobby, many students over the years have gone on to professional training, taking up posts ranging from dance performance, dance and drama teaching within in the public and private sectors, stage management, theatre lighting and media relations within the Arts. KD Dance is proud to nuture their students to gain a life-long love of dance and theatre, whatever their chosen career path.

Classes are held regularly at Capelles Community Centre, next door to Hautes Capelles Primary School, in a modern and spacious facility. KD Dance has two large dance studios with Harlequin dance flooring, along with portable mirrors and barres. There is also a smaller studio which is used for private coaching, student practice area and our weekly Saturday dance shop.

There are also designated changing areas, male and female toilets, as well as disabled and baby change facilities. There is plenty of car parking available on site, as well as being on a main bus route.

The centre is able to provide an excellent venue for in-house productions, visiting workshops, plus our popular holiday classes and summer schools too.

As we enter into our 25th Year Anniversary in September 2018, KD Dance is dedicated to continue to provide a nurturing and safe environment for all it’s pupils to be able achieve their individual potential.
